# GIF maker for your screenshots and photos, no upload

Put your images in order, set how long each one shows, and get a looping GIF that fits under 3 MB for a Product Hunt thumbnail or 10 MB for GitHub. JPG, PNG, WebP and more. Free, no sign-up, and your images never leave your device.

Your images never leave your device: the tool runs inside your browser. From 2 to 120 images, 200 MB in all. Use it at https://opusmotion.com/tools/gif-maker.

## How to use it

1. Drop your images, or tap the box to pick them: screenshots, photos or the frames of an animation.
2. Put them in order with the arrows, and choose how long each one shows.
3. Choose the shape, the width and, if the GIF has to fit somewhere, the size limit. Images of another shape fit inside the frame over a color, or fill it.
4. Make the GIF, check it, and download it.

The first time, your browser downloads the video engine (31 MB, once); after that it opens from the cache.

## Where the size limits come from

Product Hunt: a square thumbnail, 240 × 240 recommended, and every image, GIF or not, under 3 MB. The thumbnail shows the GIF's first frame until someone points at it.

GitHub: images and GIFs attached to an issue, a pull request or a README comment can be up to 10 MB.

Read at each source on 9 October 2026.

## Questions

### How do I make a GIF from images?

Drop two or more images here, put them in order, choose how long each one shows and make the GIF. It loops forever, or plays once if you choose so, and it's made on your own device.

### Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. The GIF is made inside your browser, with ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly, and your images never leave your device. The first time, your browser downloads the video engine (31 MB, once); after that it opens from the cache.

### How many images can a GIF have?

From 2 to 120, up to 200 MB in all. Each image becomes one frame, shown from 0.1 seconds to several seconds.

### Can I make a GIF under 3 MB for Product Hunt?

Yes: choose 3 MB as the limit. If the first GIF is bigger, the tool lowers its colors and then its width, only as far as it has to, and keeps every image. For the square thumbnail, choose the 1:1 shape.

### What if my images have different sizes?

The GIF takes the shape you choose, or the first image's. An image of another shape fits inside the frame over white, black or your brand's color, or fills it and is cropped to its middle.

### Why does a GIF look less sharp than my photos?

A GIF frame holds at most 256 colors. Screenshots and flat graphics keep almost all of their look; photos with smooth gradients get a fine dot pattern. Each frame here gets its own 256 colors, so one image never takes colors away from another.

### Should I post a GIF or a video?

A GIF plays and loops by itself almost everywhere, READMEs and emails included. Where a site plays videos, like X or LinkedIn, a video of the same images looks better and weighs less: the images to video tool makes one, with transitions.
