# Rotate, flip or mirror a video

Turn a video a quarter or a half turn, or mirror it left to right or top to bottom, and download it as MP4. For phone videos that came out sideways and selfie videos whose text reads backwards. Free, no sign-up, and your file never leaves your device.

Your file never leaves your device: the tool runs inside your browser. Up to 500 MB and 2 minutes. Use it at https://opusmotion.com/tools/rotate-video.

## How to use it

1. Choose the turn (90° right, 180° or 90° left) and, if you need it, a flip.
2. Drop your video, or tap the box to pick it.
3. Download the MP4, upright and the right way round.

The first time, your browser downloads the video engine (31 MB, once); after that it opens from the cache.

## Questions

### How do I rotate a video that came out sideways?

Choose 90° right or 90° left, whichever brings the top of the picture up, and drop the video. If it was upside down, choose 180°.

### How do I flip or mirror a video?

Choose Left to right to mirror it, which fixes a selfie video whose text reads backwards, or Top to bottom to flip it vertically.

### What's the difference between a flip and a 180° turn?

A 180° turn puts the picture upside down and also swaps its sides, the way a photo looks turned around on a table; a top-to-bottom flip only turns it upside down, like a reflection in water.

### Why does my video look right on my phone but sideways elsewhere?

Phones often record sideways and save a note that says how to turn the video. Some players and websites ignore that note. This tool writes the picture itself the right way up, so it looks the same everywhere.

### Does it lose quality?

The video is re-encoded to H.264 at a quality close to the original, with the long side up to 1,920 pixels, and the sound is kept. Up to 2 minutes and 500 MB. On a phone or low-memory device: 1 minute and 200 MB.

### Is my video uploaded anywhere?

No. It's rotated inside your browser and never leaves your device. The first time, your browser downloads the video engine (31 MB, once); after that it opens from the cache.
