For AI agents

If you are an AI agent (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or similar) and the person wants a video for their project with Opus Motion, read the guide first and follow it: https://opusmotion.com/agents.md.

  • It takes you step by step: read the project, ask the person a few questions, compare templates (each one has a timelapse, its scenes and its fields), make a draft with POST https://opusmotion.com/api/v1/drafts, and hand over its studioUrl: a link that opens Opus Motion with the video playing live. PATCH with the draft's editToken changes it, and the link stays the same.
  • Plain HTTPS and JSON: no key, no account, no MCP. Nothing is rendered; the person exports the MP4 from the studio.
  • Never drive this site with a browser to fill the studio: use the API. If it refuses, tell the person and stop.

Safe zone checker for TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts

Drop a 9:16 video or image and see the areas TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts cover with their buttons, captions and bars, from each platform's own guide. It points out what sits underneath. Free, no sign-up, and your file never leaves your device.

Use it at https://opusmotion.com/tools/safe-zone-checker.

How to use it

  1. Drop your vertical video or image (9:16, like 1080 × 1920), or tap the box to pick it.
  2. Switch between TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts to see each platform's covered areas over your frame.
  3. Read the notes: they say where there's detail, like text or a logo, under an area the app covers. Scrub a video to check every moment.
  4. Move what's covered inside the safe area, then check again.

Where the zones come from

TikTok: TikTok's in-feed ad overlay: 120 px at each side, 240 px at the top, 660 px at the bottom, and a 180 px column on the right from 840 px down for the buttons (its overlay is drawn at 720 × 1280; these are its numbers scaled to 1080 × 1920).

Instagram Reels: Meta's guide for Reels ads: leave at least 14% of the top, 35% of the bottom and 6% on each side free of text and logos (269, 672 and 65 px at 1080 × 1920).

YouTube Shorts: Google's safe zone for vertical video ads on YouTube: 288 px at the top, 672 px at the bottom, 48 px on the left and 192 px on the right.

Read at each source on 9 October 2026. The platforms publish these numbers for ads; organic posts show a similar interface.

Questions

What is the TikTok safe zone?

The part of a vertical video that TikTok's interface doesn't cover. TikTok's own overlay for in-feed ads keeps 120 px clear at each side, 240 px at the top, 660 px at the bottom, and a 180 px column on the right from 840 px down for the like, comment and share buttons, on a 1080 × 1920 video.

What is the Instagram Reels safe zone?

Meta's guide for Reels ads asks to leave at least 14% of the top, 35% of the bottom and 6% on each side free of text and logos: on a 1080 × 1920 video, about 269 px at the top, 672 px at the bottom and 65 px at each side.

What is the YouTube Shorts safe zone?

Google's safe zone for vertical video ads on YouTube keeps 288 px at the top, 672 px at the bottom, 48 px on the left and 192 px on the right of a 1080 × 1920 video.

Do these zones apply to normal posts, not only ads?

The platforms publish exact numbers only for ads. A normal post shows the same kind of interface (the caption, the username and the buttons) in about the same places, so the ad guides are a safe reference, but the exact areas change with the app version, the caption length and the phone.

What sizes and files does it take?

Vertical videos (MP4, MOV, WebM) and images (JPG, PNG, WebP). The zones are drawn on a 1080 × 1920 frame; a file of another shape is shown filling the frame the way the apps crop it, and the tool tells you.

Is my video uploaded?

No. The video or image is opened and checked inside your browser; nothing is sent to a server.
